What You’ll Receive:

Your new plant will have been on a journey, and while it is resilient, it needs a little bit of help to adjust to its new environment. Please follow these steps to ensure your new String of Watermelons (Senecio herreianus) settles in comfortably.

Unboxing Your Plant
1. Gentle Removal: Carefully remove all packaging materials. If the plant was secured with paper or bubble wrap, take it off slowly to avoid breaking any stems or losing leaves.
2. Inspection: Check the soil. If it is completely bone-dry, give it a light drink of water, but do not saturate it. If the soil is still moist, let it be.
3. Placement: Find a spot for your plant, but do not put it in direct, harsh sunlight immediately. It needs to rest first.

The Acclimation Process

Plants experience stress during shipping due to changes in light, temperature, and humidity. Acclimation is the process of helping your plant adjust to its new home gradually.

* Week 1 (Rest): Place your plant in a spot with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, as the plant is currently sensitive and prone to sunburn. Keep it away from drafty windows, air conditioning vents, or heaters.
* Weeks 2–4 (Observation): If the plant looks happy, you can slowly move it toward its permanent location. If you notice any wilting or yellowing, move it back to a slightly shadier spot for a few more days.
* Wait to Repot: Please wait at least 3–4 weeks before repotting. Moving a plant into a new pot right after shipping is too much stress at once. Let it get settled in its nursery pot first.

Once your plant has acclimated, here is how to keep it thriving:

* Light: This succulent loves bright, indirect light. A spot near an east-facing window is often ideal. If you notice the stems getting "leggy" (stretching out with large gaps between leaves), it is likely craving more light.
* Watering: This is the most important rule: less is more. The "watermelons" are designed to store water. Always let the soil dry out completely between waterings. When you do water, ensure the pot has excellent drainage and never let it sit in a saucer of water.
* Temperature: They prefer standard household temperatures. Keep them away from extreme cold or direct heat sources.
